Beatriz Albuquerque participa na Bienal de Cerveira com a performance + instalação “Crise na fortuna”

Beatriz Albuquerque vive e trabalha entre Porto e New York e é conhecida pela suas práticas interdisciplinares entre a performance e cross media. Tem desenvolvido um trabalho autónomo em que a performance é o elemento fulcral e central de todo o desenvolvimento artistico.
Neste Projeto intitulado Crise na Fortuna, Beatriz Albuquerque assume a metamorfose na sacerdotisa e no oráculo que prediz uma resposta e responde às perguntas em relação à Crise em que vivemos.
Esta resposta surgirá como um processo de mastigação que ressoa no corpo.
Nesta premissa, Sibila cria alibis com possíveis respostas, através de uma transformação corpórea, para os problemas e desditas de quem necessita de uma Fortuna cega.
Isto sucederá na caverna de Platão, e podemos assistir ao ato da argila colocada em filas correlacionadas em paralelo com a pupila enquanto maxila.

Beatriz Albuquerque foi galardoada com o Prémio Myers Art Prize: mix media, Columbia University, New York (2009) e com o Premio de Performance Ambient Series, PAC/edge Performance Festival, Chicago (2005).
Em 2011 foi destacado pela revista Flash Art 281 (November – December 2011) por Helena Kontova e Giancarlo Politi como uma das 100 artistas de topo, com menos de 45 anos. Realizou várias exposições individuais e colectivas, destacando-se alguns lugares onde a artista apresentou trabalho: Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago, Chicago Cultural Center, Chelsea Art Museum em New York, Emily Harvey Foundation, New York em NY, 10th International Istanbul Biennial, 2nd Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art, MUBE Museu Brasileiro da Escultura em Sao Paulo, National Museum em Ghana, Museo de Arte Contemporanea de Bogota, Museo de Arte Contemporanea de Caracas, Festival Trama no Porto, Cabinet Magazine Brooklyn, MASS MoCA em North Adams, entre outros. Beatriz Albuquerque lives and works between New York and Porto. She is known for her interdisciplinary practices between performance and cross media. She has developed an autonomous work in which performance art is her central focal point.
In this project, Crisis of Luck, Beatriz Albuquerque becomes the oracle priestess who foretells and responds to questions asked pertaining to the crisis that we live within, and provides the solution to the problems. The answer will function as a process of rumination on the soul. From this premise, the Sibyl will create alibis for answers through a corporeal transformation as a response to the problems and misfortunes of those in need of better fortune. The performance will happen in Plato’s Cave, where she asks, as part of the process, that we always question ourselves.
Beatriz Albuquerque was awarded the Myers Art Prize: mix media, Columbia University, New York (2009) and the Ambient Series Performance Award, PAC / edge Performance Festival, Chicago (2005).
