A Xerem esteve em Londres a participar na Triangle Conference que decorreu nos passados dias 26 e 27 de Novembro de 2011 nas instalações da Bloomberg em pleno centro administrativo da cidade. O encontro reuniu na cidade os diversos parceiros da rede Triangle Network, bem como representantes de outros sectores e público interessado, tendo como tema “Networked: Dialogue and Exchange in the Global Art Ecology”.
No âmbito da conferência foi criado um Blog no qual são disponibilizados os vídeos que registam as intervenções dos conferencistas e onde se pode ter uma ideia das questões mais pertinentes levantadas durante os dois dias em decorreu a iniciativa.

Xerem  was in London to participate in the Triangle Conference held in the  26th and 27th of November 2011, on the premises of the Bloomberg center  in the heart of the city. The meeting brought together the various international  partners of the  Triangle Network to London, as well as representatives from other sectors and the general public. The conference was entitled “Networked: Dialogue and Exchange in the Art Global Ecology.”

O Workshop “Capturando a essência” juntou 35 participantes em Cabo VerdeThe Workshop “Capturing the essence” gathered 35 participants in Cape Verde

A Xerem em parceria com a Zero Point Art Gallery de Mindelo/Cabo Verde apoiou o workshop  de fotografia “Capturando a essência” de Binu Bhaskar sendo organizado pela Zero Point Art com o curador/artista Alex da Silva. Binu Bhaskar um artista residente no “Home and Abroad” workshop Triangle Network em Portugal organizado pela Xerem em 2010, trabalhou com Alex da Silva (também um artista residente da workshop Triangle em Portugal 2010) na organização deste workshop de fotografia que teve 35 participantes Cabo verde, de diversas origens e experiências de trabalho. O workshop incluiu uma ampla gama de técnicas e aproximações à arte do retrato e fotografia de paisagem. Os resultado final culminou numa exposição na galeria em Cabo Verde. Brevemente a Xerem irá lançar um exposição online com as obras desenvolvidas durante a exposição.

Xerem in partnership with Zero Point Art Gallery from Mindelo/Cape Verde  supported  the workshop of photography “Capturing the essence “ of Binu Bhaskar being organized by Zero Point Art gallery  with the curator/artist  Alex da Silva . Binu Bhaskar a resident artist in the “Home and Abroad” Triangle Network workshop in Portugal organized by Xerem in 2010, worked  with   Alex da Silva  (also a resident artist in the Triangle Workshop in  Portugal 2010) to organize this photography workshop. The workshop had 35 participants  from diverse backgrounds and work experiences from Cape Verde. The workshop  included  a wide range of techniques and aproaches to the art of portrait and landscape photography. The end results culminated in an exhibition at the gallery in Cape Verde.

Xerem will soon launch an online exhibition with the works carried out during the exhibition.

Binu Bhaskar um artista residente no workshop “Home and Abroad” da Triangle Network em Portugal organizado pela Xerem em 2010, irá trabalhar com a Galeria Zero Point Art  e  o curador/artista Alex da Silva de Cabo Verde (também um artista residente no workshop da Triangle em Portugal 2010) para organizar um workshop de fotografia intitulado “Capturar a essência”, destinado a jovens artistas de Cabo Verde. O workshop incluírá diversas técnicas e abordagens à arte do retrato e da fotografia de paisagem. Os resultados finais culminarão numa exposição na galeria em Cabo Verde e numa galeria virtual da xerem.

Os artistas irão explorar as histórias e mitos da relação da paisagem erodida de Cabo Verde com a ideia de emigração e de retorno como um caminho para a prosperidade e desejo de trabalhar no exterior. Os artistas vão olhar para a cartografia do solo erodido como uma metáfora para a experiência da migração em Cabo Verde. Poucos ou nenhuns países têm experimentado a emigração de forma extensiva como Cabo Verde. A diáspora ultrapassa a população residente, e praticamente qualquer família tem membros emigrantes.

Xerem in partnership with Zero Point ArtGallery from Mindelo/Cape Verde is developing a collaborative art residency, research and creative programme in between Binu Bhaskar, Alex da Silva and Monica De Miranda. Binu Bhaskar a resident artist in the “Home and Abroad” Triangle Network workshop in Portugal organized by Xerem in 2010, will work with Zero Point Art Gallery and curator/artist Alex da Silva from Cape Verde (also a resident artist in the Triangle Workshop in  Portugal 2011) to organize a photography workshop entitled “Capturing the essence” aimed at young artists from Cape Verde. The workshop will included range of techniques and aproaches to the art of portrait and landscape photography. The end results will culminate in an exhibition at the gallery in Cape Verde and at Xerem virtual gallery.

The artists will explore the stories and myths of the relationship of the eroded landscape of Cape verde with the idea of emigration and return as a path to prosperity and desire to work abroad. The artists will look into the cartography of the eroded soil as a metaphor for the experience of migration in Cape Verde . Few, if any, countries have experienced emigration as extensively as Cape Verde, the diaspora outnumbers the resident population, and virtually every family has emigrant members.

É já esta semana em Londres (na GASWORKS, a 22 de Fevereiro, às 19h) e em Lisboa (no CARPE DIEM – Arte e Pesquisa, a 26 de Fevereiro, às 18h), que será lançado o livro HOME & ABROAD, documentando as várias actividades organizadas no âmbito daquele que foi o primeiro workshop da Triangle Network organizado em Portugal, fruto de uma parceria com a associação cultural Xerem. . A publicação é bilingue (pt/ing) e fornece variadíssima documentação visual sobre o desenvolvimento do workshop com os 21 artistas participantes durante as duas semanas de residência em Sintra no Monte dos Ciprestes, destacando ainda o dia de abertura dos espaços de atelier na Monte (“Open Day”) ao público interessado. . Os artistas residentes internacionais foram: Ana Maria Milán (Colômbia), Alex da Silva (Cabo Verde), Beatriz Albuquerque (Portugal), Bernard Akoi-Jackson (Gana), Binu Bhaskar (Índia/Austrália/Emirados Árabes Unidos), Carlos Mélo (Brasil), Cristina Ataíde (Portugal), Daniel Melim (Portugal), Gayle Chong Kwan (Escócia/China/Ilhas Maurícias), Gemuce (Moçambique), Hindhyra (Angola), Isabel Lima (Portugal), Rachel Korman (Brasil/Portugal), Rémi Bragard  (França), Salomé Lamas (Portugal),  Sara e André (Portugal), Susana Guardado (Portugal), Teodolinda Semedo (Portugal), Tiago Borges (Angola/Portugal), Yara El –Sherbini (Reino Unido/Egipto).
