Convidamos a participar na conversa de artistas Vários caminhos, a pretexto do lançamento da 3ª edição do Workshop Internacional de Artistas | Triangle Network, organizado pela Xerem.

A conversa terá lugar no dia 15 de Junho de 2013, sábado, pelas 16 horas, no Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa.

Será também lançada a Open Call para participação no Workshop. O Workshop, intitulado OFFLINE – Entre Trânsitos e Viagens, vai reunir em Lisboa 16 artistas, entre 24 de Novembro e 8 de Dezembro. Todas as informações e regulamento para participação estarão disponíveis a partir de 15 de Junho, aqui.

Acreditamos que a melhor forma de lançarmos as candidaturas para as residências artisticas de 2013 será através da revisitação das edições anteriores pelos artistas que as vivenciaram anteriormente (Sintra 2010 e Intendente 2012). Para esse efeito a Xerem convidou Carla Cabanas (2012), Cristina Ataide (2010) e Daniel Melim (2010) para discutirem com Carlos Alcobia (2012) as oportunidades e desafios que este modelo de residência proporciona ao artista, ao produtor e ao público. O principal propósito de uma residência artistica é sobretudo o de capacitar os artistas de tempo, mas também dotá-los da capacidade para realizarem pesquisa, elaborarem nova produção e da oportunidade para encetar diálogos improváveis e fora do seu contexto normal. Como será a noção de tempo quando vivenciado pelo artista no âmbito de uma residência artistica? Que questões lhe levanta? Que investigação realiza? Que diálogos proporciona? A Associação Xerem, e enquanto representante em Portugal da rede internacional Triangle Network, irá lançar este debate, associando o mesmo à ocasião da abertura de candidaturas à edição de 2013 do programa das residências artisticas internacional. Contamos com a vossa presença e o vosso contributo.

Join us in an artist’s talk, entitled Different paths, organized to launch the Triangle Network International Artists Workshop’s 3rd edition, promoted by Xerem.

The talk will be held on the 15th June, saturday, 4 pm, at Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa.

We will also be launching the Workshop’s Open Call. Entitled OFFLINE – Between Transits and Journeys, the workshop will gather 16 artist in Lisbon, Portugal, from the 24th November until the 8th December. Detailed information and regulations will be available here on the 15th June.

We believe that the best way to launch the Open Call for the 2013 workshop is to invite the artists that participated in the previous editions and allow them to revisit and share their experience. Xerem invited Carla Cabanas (participant in the 2012 workshop), Cristina Ataíde and Daniel Melim (participants in the 2010 workshop) to discuss with Carlos Alcobia the opportunities and challenges offered to the artist, the producer and public by this model of workshop / residency. The main objectives of an artistic residency are, above all, to provide the artist with time, but also to allow them the opportunity to do research, to create new work and to engage in improbable dialogues with improbable interlocutors and in improbable contexts. How does an artist, in an artistic residency, experiences time? What questions arise? What kind of research does the artist pursue? What kind of dialogues emerge? Xerem, as the Portuguese partner of Triangle Network, launches this debate as a pretext to the official Open Call for the 2013 International Artists Workshop. We hope to see you there!

Apresentamos um olhar sobre o que se passou no Transitante – entre álbuns e arquivos | Workshop Triangle Network 2012.

O 2ª Workshop Internacional de Artistas realizado pela Xerem decorreu em Lisboa, em parceria com a Largo Residências, a Triangle Network e o Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa – Fotográfico, entre 3 e 12 de Dezembro de 2012.

Os artistas participantes foram: Carla Cabanas, Jordi Burch, Susana Anágua, Anton Theileis, Ivan Grilo e René Tavares. Contou com a cordenação dos artistas Mónica de Miranda e Jorge Rocha.

O vídeo foi realizado por Caracois Voadores.

O próximo workshop internacional Triangle Network será este ano e a convocatória para participação será lançada em breve.

The 2nd International Artists Workshop organized by Xerem took place in Lisbon, in partnership with Largo Residências, Triangle Network and  Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa – Fotográfico, between 3 and 12 December 2012.

The participating artists were: Carla Cabanas, Jordi Burch, Susana Anágua, Anton Theileis, Ivan Grilo and René Tavares. The workshop was coordinated by the artists Mónica De Miranda and Jorge Rocha

The video was directed by Caracois Voadores.

The next Triangle Network Internacional workshop will take place late 2013. The Open call for the workshop will be announced soon.

Terminou no passado dia 12 de Dezembro o “Transitante: entre álbuns e arquivos”, workshop internacional de artistas Triangle Network, organizado pela Xerem em parceria com o Largo Residências e o Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa – Fotográfico.

O workshop coordenado pelos artistas Jorge Rocha e Mónica de Miranda e com apoio curatorial do curador Carlos Alcobia, ambos membros da XEREM, reuniu no Intendente seis artistas, Anton Theileis (Alemanha), Carla Cabanas (Portugal), Ivan Grilo (Brasil), Jordi Burch (Portugal), René Tavares (São Tomé e Príncipe), e Susana Anágua (Portugal) que durante 10 dias estiveram em residência artística no Largo Residências. Ai desenvolveram as suas pesquisas refletindo sobre os seus processo criativos, num programa que procurou seguir os objetivos comuns às ações organizadas no âmbito da rede Triangle: privilegiar o intercâmbio de experiências, evidenciar e reinterpretar as especificidades de cada local, estabelecer ligações entre artistas e movimentos artísticos e culturais de diferentes países, e dinamizar a presença desses contextos internacionais com os artistas locais.

Como refere Carlos Alcobia no Blog do Workshop “Transitante encerrou as suas atividades com um Dia Aberto que nos proporcionou um encontro final com os diferentes trânsitos que percorreram a Residência Artistica promovida pela Xerem. Foram 10 os dias que partilhámos em torno do Largo Residência (nossa casa) num programa que incluiu visitas, conversas e apresentações, festas, exposições, performances, etc. A criação de um espaço fisico e temporal para experimentar, debater, pesquisar e partilhar. Uma residência artistica de artistas e para artistas.”

O Transitante foi a segunda edição do Workshop Internacional desenvolvido pela XEREM em parceria com a rede internacional Triangle Network (TN), depois de em 2010 ter reunido 20 artistas em Sintra na mesma lógica de partilha, na primeira edição intitulada “Home and Abroad”.

Este workshop é uma actividade se inclui nos objetivos prioritários da XEREM e consolida a nossa missão, contribuindo para a internacionalização da arte e dos artistas portugueses, numa rede que estimula o trabalho criativo, num contexto de colaboração e experimentação com outros artistas, promovendo o diálogo intercultural e o intercâmbio artístico entre criativos nacionais e internacionais.

The “Transient: in between albums and archives”, Triangle Network International artists workshop organized by Xerem in partnership with Largo Residencies and Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa – fotográfico ended on the last December 12.

The workshop, coordinated by the artists Jorge Rocha and Mónica de Miranda with curatorial support by Carlos Alcobia, both Xerem members, have joined six artist, Anton Theileis (Germany), Carla Cabanas (Portugal), Ivan Grilo (Brazil), Jordi Burch (Portugal), René Tavares (São Tomé and Príncipe) and Susana Anágua (Portugal) that were in residence at Largo Residências for 10 days. There, they developed their research reflecting on their creative process, in a program that sought to follow the common goals of actions organized within the Triangle Network and was focused on exchanging experiences, highlighting and reinterpreting the specificities of each site, linking artists and artistic and cultural movements from different countries, and to boost the presence of these international contexts within local artists.

Like Carlos Alcobia says in the workshop Blog “Transient closed its activities with an Open Day which gave us a final meeting with the different transits that wander the artistic residency promoted by Xerem. There were 10 days shared around the Largo Residencias (our house) in a program that included tours, talks and presentations, parties, exhibitions, performances, etc.. A creation of a physical and temporal space to experiment, discuss, share and search. An artistic residency from artists and to artists. ”

Transiente was the second edition of the International Workshop developed by Xerem in partnership with the international Triangle Network (TN), after in 2010 having gathered 20 artists in Sintra with the same sharing logic in the first edition entitled “Home and Abroad”.

This workshop is included on the Xerem major’s goals and consolidates our mission, contributing to the internationalization of Portuguese art and artists, in a network that stimulates creative work in a context of collaboration and experimentation with other artists, promoting intercultural dialogue and artistic exchange between national and international creative people.

Transitante encerra com Open DayTransient closes with Open Day

O “Transitante: entre álbuns e arquivos”, workshop internacional de artistas Triangle Network, organizado pela Xerem em parceria com o Largo Residências e o Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa – Fotográfico encerra no próximo dia 12 de Dezembro (Quarta-feira) com um dia aberto que irá decorrer em vários espaços no Largo do Intendente entre as 16h30 e as 20h.

Com coordenação artística dos artistas Jorge Rocha e Mónica de Miranda e apoio curatorial do curador Carlos Alcobia, 6 artistas, Anton Theileis (Alemanha), Carla Cabanas (Portugal), Ivan Grilo (Brasil), Jordi Burch (Portugal), René Tavares (São Tomé e Príncipe), e Susana Anágua (Portugal) estiveram durante 10 dias em residência no Largo Residências, onde desenvolveram as suas pesquisas refletindo sobre os seus processo criativos, num programa que procurou seguir os objetivos comuns às ações organizadas no âmbito da rede Triangle: privilegiar o intercâmbio de experiências, evidenciar e reinterpretar as especificidades de cada local, estabelecer ligações entre artistas e movimentos artísticos e culturais de diferentes países, e dinamizar a presença desses contextos internacionais com os artistas locais.

O workshop, que contou com um forte envolvimento da equipa do Largo Residências, Marta Silva, Susana Alves e Daniel Abrantes decorreu no Intendente, e procurou também funcionar como uma plataforma de encontro entre artistas e territórios de hibridação, marcados pela multiplicidade de comunidades que neles se entre cruzam e intermezzo a um cenário de forte reabilitação urbana.

Como referido pelo curador Carlos Alcobia, “um espaço de mediação mutável que nos permite viajar até ao outro, habitá-lo, mas sem nos transformarmos nele. O nosso entendimento sobre o Intendente poderá ser sempre exterior mas agora forçosamente mais diversificado e conflituoso. Um agueiro, que nos suga, nos assimila e do qual procuramos resistir e escapar, mas para depois no final regressar”.

With artistical coordination of the artists Jorge Rocha and Monica de Miranda and curatorial support of Carlos Alcobia, 6 artists, Anton Theileis (Germany), Carla Cabanas (Portugal), Ivan Grilo (Brazil), Jordi Burch (Portugal), Rene Tavares (Sao Tome and Principe), and Susana Anagua (Portugal) were in residence at Largo Residências for 10 days, where they developed their research reflecting on their creative process, a program that sought to follow the common goals to actions organized within the network Triangle and was focused on exchanging experiences, highlighting and reinterpreting the specificities of each site, linking artists and artistic and cultural movements from  different countries, and to boost the presence of these international contexts within local artists.

The workshop, which featured a strong involvement of the Largo Residências team, Marta Silva, Susana Alves and Daniel Abrantes, was held at Intendente in Lisbon, and also sought to act as a platform for meetings between artists and hybridization of  territories, marked by the multiplicity of communities that cross between them intermezzos and it functioned within a context of strong urban regeneration.

As noted by the curator Carlos Alcobia, “a mediation space changeable that allows us to travel to the other, inhabit it, but without transforming it. Our understanding of the Intendente will always be outside but now inevitably more nuanced and conflicted. A melting pot, that sucks us in and assimilates which seek to resist and escape, but then at the end to return. “

The workshop, which featured a strong involvement of the Largo Residencies team, Marta Silva, Susana Alves and Daniel Abrantes, will now open its doors and occupy different spaces in the Intendente Square with opening scheduled for 4.30pm and closing at 8 pm.

A XEREM e o LARGO Residências, em parceria com a Triangle Network e o Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa – Fotográfico, organizam o workshop internacional de artistas intitulado “Transitante: entre álbuns e arquivos”. Seguindo um formato mais reduzido em relação aos modelos de workshops desenvolvidos no âmbito da rede internacional Triangle (e da qual a XEREM é parceira), Transitante reúne em Lisboa 6 artistas para a realização de uma residência artística que aborda uma reflexão sobre as questões do lugar, identidade e arquivo.

Realizado no território do Martim Moniz-Intendente e entre os dias 3 e 12 de Dezembro, com open day marcado para dia 12 de Dezembro , Transitante procura seguir os objetivos comuns às ações organizadas no âmbito da rede Triangle: privilegiar o intercâmbio de experiências, evidenciar e reinterpretar as especificidades de cada local, estabelecer ligações entre artistas e movimentos artísticos e culturais de diferentes países, e dinamizar a presença desses contextos internacionais com os artistas locais. Transitante será também uma plataforma de encontro entre artistas perante territórios de hibridação, marcados pela multiplicidade de comunidades que neles se entre cruzam e intermezzo a um cenário de forte reabilitação urbana.

Transitante, mais do que uma reflexão sobre transitoriedade, implica igualmente considerar e valorizar a ação do movimento através do espaço. Percorrer e vivenciar as questões relativas à memória e identidade, num espaço que estimula a reflexão critica do artista enquanto caminhante e arquivista. Este workshop pretende ele próprio constituir-se como um arquivo transitório, ancorado nas pessoas e nos seus lugares mas que que caminhe pelos pés dos artistas.

O programa contempla ainda um conjunto diverso e alargado de atividades, que serão desenvolvidas em exclusivo no Intendente, mas que conta com a participação de outros artistas, curadores e produtores, convidados a partilhar com os participantes e restantes membros das comunidades locais processos de investigação, produção e discussão.

Xerem and LARGO Residências in partnership with Triangle Network and Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa – Fotográfico, are organizing an international artists workshop titled “Transient: in between albums and archives.” Following a smaller format of the workshops developed within the Triangle Network (and from which Xerem is partner), Transient brings together 6 artists in Lisbon for an artistic residency programme, reflecting on the issues related to place , identity and archives.

Held within the Martim Moniz-Intendente area of Lisbon, between 3rd and 12th of December, with an open day on the 12th, this residency follows the common goals of the artistic residencies model organized under the Triangle network: focus on the exchange of experiences, seeking to feature the specificity of each site, linking the artistic and cultural movements in the country, boosting the presence of these international contexts with local artists. Transient will also be a meeting platform between artists in hybridization territories, places marked by the multiplicity of communities that cross between them intermezzo and a backdrop of strong urban regeneration.

Transient more than a reflection on transit and travel implies also to consider and enhance the action of moving through space. To travel and experiencing issues related to memory and identity in a space that encourages critical reflection of the artist as archivist and a traveller. This workshop aims to establish itself as a transitional archive anchored in people and in their place but that it can walk by the feet of artists.

The program also includes a diverse set of extended activities, which will be developed in the exclusive neighborhood of the Intendente, but that includes the participation of other artists, curators and producers invited to share with the participants and other members of local community processes research, production and discussion

É já esta semana em Londres (na GASWORKS, a 22 de Fevereiro, às 19h) e em Lisboa (no CARPE DIEM – Arte e Pesquisa, a 26 de Fevereiro, às 18h), que será lançado o livro HOME & ABROAD, documentando as várias actividades organizadas no âmbito daquele que foi o primeiro workshop da Triangle Network organizado em Portugal, fruto de uma parceria com a associação cultural Xerem. . A publicação é bilingue (pt/ing) e fornece variadíssima documentação visual sobre o desenvolvimento do workshop com os 21 artistas participantes durante as duas semanas de residência em Sintra no Monte dos Ciprestes, destacando ainda o dia de abertura dos espaços de atelier na Monte (“Open Day”) ao público interessado. . Os artistas residentes internacionais foram: Ana Maria Milán (Colômbia), Alex da Silva (Cabo Verde), Beatriz Albuquerque (Portugal), Bernard Akoi-Jackson (Gana), Binu Bhaskar (Índia/Austrália/Emirados Árabes Unidos), Carlos Mélo (Brasil), Cristina Ataíde (Portugal), Daniel Melim (Portugal), Gayle Chong Kwan (Escócia/China/Ilhas Maurícias), Gemuce (Moçambique), Hindhyra (Angola), Isabel Lima (Portugal), Rachel Korman (Brasil/Portugal), Rémi Bragard  (França), Salomé Lamas (Portugal),  Sara e André (Portugal), Susana Guardado (Portugal), Teodolinda Semedo (Portugal), Tiago Borges (Angola/Portugal), Yara El –Sherbini (Reino Unido/Egipto). Para além dos textos dos respectivos coordenadores artísticos e co-fundadores da Xerem (Mónica de Miranda e Jorge Rocha), a edição conta também com os testemunhos do próprio director da Triangle Network (Alessio Antoniolli) e da curadora residente (Lúcia Marques), bem como com os diversos contributos de outros curadores, programadores, gestores culturais e artistas convidados a participar na programação transversal desta iniciativa, nomeadamente David-Alexandre Guéniot, Lourenço Egreja, Jorge Barreto Xavier, José António Fernandes Dias, Andrzej Raszyk, Fabrice Ziegler, Herwig Turk, João Dias, Graça Pereira Coutinho, Xana e Rigo.
