Introduction:

The aim of the residency is to research the natural history illustration collection held at the Natural History Museum, and to create a new body of work to be shown in the new ‘Images of Nature’ Gallery at the Natural History Museum. The focus will be the collections from India. The artist will be provided with a studio space and accommodation within the Gasworks’ community of London-based and international artists. Together with Gasworks’ programme of exhibitions, education projects and international fellowships, the residency will provide the artist with an environment that encourages the exchange of ideas in the expectation to instigate experimentation with new concepts and materials.

The programme provides an excellent new opportunity for an artist and is the third residency within this International Residency Programme, which is a partnership between Gasworks and the Natural History Museum.

CALL FOR ARTISTS | POOL ART FAIR MIAMI CALL FOR ARTISTS | POOL ART FAIR MIAMI

Frere Independent is now reviewing artist’s applications for the PooL Art Fair Miami Beach 2011.

Slated for the 2nd, 3rd & 4th of December 2011, the show has been part of the most important art week of the world for years. The week is lead by Art Basel Miami Beach which attracts over 200,000 visitors eager to discover new artists and purchase art.

Located at walking distance from the main show, PooL Art Fair offers the exhibitors a unique opportunity to be part of this important event. Each participating artist, or group of artists, will use the hotel’s guest rooms as an exhibition space, creating an intimate setting. The show will be comprised of artists, artists’ collectives and curators. Hence, the fair will serve as an invaluable resource for the artistic community and the general public.

PooL is the successor to the acclaimed New York Independent Art Fair (November 2000), a groundbreaking exhibition that attracted thousands of visitors from the US and abroad. The simple, modest approach of the PooL Art Fair offers an exciting alternative to the “art fair” experience for dealers and collectors, as well as the general public.

Following the French tradition of independent salons, PooL pioneered the idea in the US; the fair is dedicated to artists that do not have representation in galleries at concurring art fairs.

The Deadline for the application to PooL Art Fair is October 20, 2011.

TAVOLO – Passeio Performativo de Jorge Rocha em LagosTAVOLO – Performative Tour by Jorge Rocha in Lagos (Portugal)

In Fisher, M.F.K., A arte de bem servir

.

Starting from LAC in Lagos/Portugal at 10am

When shall we live if not now? ” Asked Seneca in front of a table set to enjoyment of him and his friends. It is a question whose answer can easily be deluded. In fact, when? We are alive, now. At what other time can we live, and with greater satisfaction than eating supper in pleasant company?

M.F.K. Fisher, A arte de bem servir

.

We create spaces and environments to share meals together. Art also walks in the banquets that repeatedly are articulated in human activities that define the meaning of delicacies, its good cooking and the space where they are tasted.
Tavolo is a performative tour that serves as an interface to an approach to the issue of the philosopher quoted by MFK Fisher, providing the experience on smells and tastes of a city. It is a sensitive experience that appeals to tasting, applied in the relational space and transported to the virtual world, interacting with the mechanisms of digital broadcasting and with the online public.

Tavolo is part of Webcooking that the artist include on Culinária Expansiva project, in a transversal approach that uses performance, video and other digital media. Wecooking expands the relation of performative action with the web mechanisms in a relational space.
